Dude demanded a roster spot but hasn’t played better than other guys to deserve it over them. It’s not Jonathan Berggrens fault he played better than Filip. It’s Filips responsibility to outplay a guy who was drafted 27 spots below him. If Filip can’t win a top 9 role he deserves to be in grand rapids. But he said he’d refuse to report if demoted. It’s a ****ty attitude. Play me top six minutes even though I haven’t proven to be a top six forward or else. I was a huge Zadina supporter and always defended him despite almost zero offence but after his reasoning for wanting a trade, I’m glad to be parting ways. It’s painful because Detroit used a 6th overall pick on the guy, passed on Hughes, Dobson and Bouchard, but it’s best now just to cut him loose.

Pageau + Wahlstrom + 1st is a lot for 1 year of DeBrincat. i think NYI backs out of the trade once they're allowed to talk extension an realize he wants to sign in Detroit as a UFA.
