Late 1st. And to give Connor Bedard a competitive team so he doesn’t become disillusioned from being on a losing team. Gives them time to find their next 1st goalie and they have a ton of cap space.

The Tampa Bay pick in this draft was #19. Not so late. And Ullmark isn't nearly enough to make the Hawks that much better. As of now, their entire left side D might be rookies. If you're the 1st overall pick in the draft, I don't think you expect your team to win in year one. Hawks keep that pick.

If they do like last year most of his money will be in incentives.
