    Brodie is a RD. And the Canes don't have the cap space to sign Pesce long term and they are getting draft picks (including a first) out of it. Seems like a good trade for both teams.

    Canes have the space to sign Pesce long term, they don't want to sign him to a long term deal because he'll be 30 when it starts.

    Canes pass. Rather have the younger cheaper better dman even if they don’t extend him. They’re not going to extend Brodie either and a late first in 26 doesn’t have much value for us.
