This seems like a fair return for Nylander... a defensive-minded top-six forward, a NHL-ready prospect, a good prospect, and a first. This might need a little adjusting

Leafs would want a RD to start for sure. But it would be more of a hockey trade not involving more roster pieces looking at the Leafs cap in particular if they sign Domi and still need to re-sign Samsonov. So Pesce + prospects / picks. With contract talks not going anywhere for either team right now it would benefit both teams to address a need. Pesce hit is easier if we acquire Karlsson also.

What about Skjei, Turbo, Dury, 1st, 2 2nds? That seems like a make up for difference in talent between Nylander and Turbo

🤦🏻‍♂️

This is the last time I’m posting in this thread because it’s getting redundant since it’s not clicking in your head.

A Nylander trade starts with Brett Pesce going to Toronto

It’s not always about value - as I said before Toronto is only trading Nylander to fill other needs. A right shot defenceman is one of those.

I don’t think the Hurricanes would be willing to deal Pesce… They might be willing to deal TDA (once we acquire him with salary retained) to fill your right shot defensemen hole

They 100% are willing to move Pesce. There have already been reports on it. Plus with them being interested in Karlsson, it makes even more sense because then they’d have Burns, Karlsson, and Pesce for the right side and you’re not playing one of them on the bottom pair

That's a totally fair point... I have a lot of sentimental attachment to Pesce and that's probably clouding my judgment. I mean Tuevo, Pesce and some draft picks would work

Ummm...Leafs were 12th that's mediocre. Ummm... your GM is an idiot so he might just take it

me team? leafs were top in pk last, how is that mediocre? if they wanted to upgrade their PK their, there better option that wont cost an 86 point foward.

a foward that produce like that is more valuable, the canes need difference makers and they cant seem to find any cause they are too cheap to try to get some. the window of their cup my close on them without one because of a GM too afraid to pay more than a 3rd round pick on improving their team.

Lol - cheap, meaning spending to or over the cap every year? You sure they haven’t used firsts in trades in last few years? Just because they don’t make idiotic moves doesn’t mean they’re cheap or afraid to be aggressive. They’re just flat out smarter at evaluating talent and better at sticking to their plans.

But hey, Reaves and Klingberg are really going to push you guys over the top. Good, aggressive moves.

What are you smoking?... A Nylander trade would probably include Skjei/Pesce and Turbo... Necas & Jarvis are the future and don't fix any problems for you

This has got to be one of the biggest homer posts I’ve seen 😂. Are you seriously trying to sell me (us) on a penalty killer as key part of fair return for a 40 goal scoring winger in his prime? Leafs don’t lose in playoffs because of pk; just like hurricanes - it’s because we don’t score enough. But sure we’ll give you our elite goal scoring winger so we can jump a few places in pk standings 😅. Like I said - homerism at it’s worst

Yes I do know what medicine is and I consider both the rankings and the eye test that the team produced before I called them mediocre

No you guys lose because your defense lets you down and your goaltending decides to be awful at the worst time... I mean sure we can throw a couple more prospects and top-round picks in but I think this basic framework would work

The more you write the more I see you don’t know what you’re talking about. But heh - knock yourself out; nothing illegal about posting ridiculously one sided homer trade proposals that have zero basis in reality.
Of course - we can counter offer Kampf + Brodie + 1st for Aho, they’re both defensive specialists (excellent defensive metrics) . I think it’ll help the canes win

Here's the difference... the entire roster of the Hurricanes is at least decent at defense unlike your roster

I'm not... There is no person that I can think of on the Hurricanes roster that isn't at least okay at defense... I can think of two or three for the Leafs (Domi, Reaves). I will admit the trade I proposed was a little one sided

I’ll let you in on something - it’s not a secret - no one cares what you think of Leaf players. Leafs were a top 5-10 team in pretty much all of the defensive metrics last year, but don’t let the truth get in the way. Still not getting Willy for your scraps (elite pk-er 😂😂😂)

I'm not saying that you guys weren't a good defensive team... you guys were... you guys just weren't good enough on defense and the PK to go far.

hey, i like much more the canes than i like the leafs.

cheap as in they dont spend asset to bolster up their roster. technicly the last time they traded a fist round pick (so no offer sheet) for a player was in 2004. this team need some top line talent. Aho and svech cant do it al. but thats just my take, its ok if you dont agree. i love many decision that they have made, most of them i would say, but they need to be more agressive in getting high end talent.

I do agree that they do need some top-line talent... Which is why I've been screaming for them to get somebody like a William Nylander or a Clayton Keller. I low balled the price a little bit because I am pretty sure that our GM would be able to manipulate the Leaf's gm to get the deal he can live with.
