t's definitely an option but there are a lot of ways Detroit can fill the hole on the right side of their defense.

Like Hank suggested in another blog, a 1yr extension for Helly might be ideal for the Sabres and him. It gives Levi two full seasons to adapt to the rigors of the NHL and it allows for Helly to hit the open market when the cap is said to be taking a big jump.

He’s a great goalie, so he’s gonna get paid regardless of when he signs the extension
Seems to me, it would just depend on him finding a team that’ll give him the length of the deal he wants
