This is the framework but considering the risk and the fact that Karlsson has to approve where he's going it's not going to be an earth shattering return, this is pretty good. But I think it's worth talking about reasonably.

Karlsson and Grier agreed that Karlsson wouldn’t be picky on the next team as long as they have a chance to win. This return is about right depending on how much Grier is willing to retain as you know they have taken 50% off the table.

Send Murray elsewhere, though. The sharks have two goalies already and are rumored to be taking on Petry so no need for a 3rd goalie.

Calling Brodie a cap dump shows how little you know about hockey. Also outright disregarding Liljegren and a 1st shows your ignorance.

Brodie has no value to SJ at his age and term and you have to move him to fit the salary. the 1st covers the retention, Niemela covers the cap dumps. so its Lijegren for EK 65 one for one

Wow - what a terrible take 🤦🏻. EK does not get traded without retention, so the 1st does not cover retention - it is built in. Cap is also 100% going back - again built in to every deal. Brodie is still a really effective dman and pending ufa (could be flipped at TDL) & Murray bought out. So a 1st, good young RHD (top 4 potential) + good young RHD prospect seems more than fair.; too much imo.
You are seriously misunderstanding the situation I think, karlsonn Stated he wants out , there won’t be many suitors , there is a lot of risk given his injury history & the contract is an absolute albatross. Sharks will be lucky to get a return of this magnitude

You won't have a choice on Murray, he has to go for the cap. Don't want him, you have to retain more.

Two players on expiring contracts is likely a must for SJ. To move Karlsson to a contender they will have to take back cap and retain. It's just not possible to do. All contenders are right up against the cap. It's a necessity, you could easily flip Brodie for more assets or keep him to help the team until the deadline. Murray you can just buy out if you want. Or bury him in the minors but taking back cap is a must. Perhaps we take Brodie out and either keep him or move him elsewhere. He has value for sure.

Everyone wants to win big on this site and when its a trade with TO they want it to be so grossly unfair. This guy has long history of trolling the leafs.

100%. Every other team that has a solid d man making $5m is a valuable trade piece. But if it's a Leaf he's trash and the Leafs must pay a sweetener for anyone to dare take them off the Leafs hands. People can be so embarrassing.
