Cool. Good for Ottawa if they get more. Detroit is not interested in going higher than that and getting dragged into some stupid bidding war. Detroit stays the course. Keeps the 9th and 17th. Drafts two good players and develops them.
Debrincat also wants 8million a year for 8 years. There is not a lot of teams that can
a) pay him that
b) are on his list of teams he'd sign with
Detroit ticks both boxes
Nashville ticks both boxes
Vegas ticks one box (on his list)
Florida ticks one box (on his list)
So basically, unless Florida or Vegas shed a ton of salary to sign Cat. Detroit is basically competing with only Nashville. All other teams won't bother trading assets for a guy that doesn't want to sign long term with them. If Nashville wants to give up the 15th Overall and a quality prospect, they can go for it...I doubt they will though.
