Ross Colton for broberg

Description
I’m this scenario I have Tampa losing both killorn and Colton. Most of the ACGM have Tampa either trading colton and keeping killorn or keeping colton and losing killorn. But the scenario where both players choose money over loyalty is a very real and possible outcome.

Broberg- the best option for tampa and the fact Edmonton has made him available gives me all the hope that JBB will look at a potential trade for him. Slot him in at the 3rd pair and allow him to play a similar role to Sergy when he was under hedman and mac. He will cost 850,000 for 1 more year before he becomes a rfa and JBB loves trading for RFA’s.

Kampf- a player Tampa couldn’t afford if either colton or killorn return but having him replace bellmare on the penalty kill is major as kampf if one of the best penalty killers in the leauge imo. He has killed this team when he was in Toronto and could definitely be a great add for the playoffs

Miles wood- miles wood has been a player Tampa has been interested in for a while now. Whether that be the trade deadlines or off-season miles wood has been a Tampa style player for a while now. Here he gets a bit of a pay decrease although after tax it may be close to his previous contract but either Way he does not deserve a raise. Whether it be tha fact he was a healthy scratch in the playoffs or the underwhelming point production the past year and so. Miles gets the second line wing slot and Tampa banks on him to bring that physical and speed aspect of his game that we all know.

Other 2nd line wing options:
Tatar- I think Tatar is definitely the player type needed on this second line. A play maker who can help get stamkos the puck to score and yet put up a decent amount of goals himself. If he were to sign I would think it is around the 3.5-4.1 million dollar range. I believe if he wanted to win and be a top option on a contender Tampa could be perfect for him as he most likely will battle for the net front spot on the power play with hagel

Kane- Kane is only a option due to how good of a play maker he is. I personally wouldn’t want nor do I think this is a possible option but it’s more of a general player type Kane fills

No your totally right, it’s not like you guys just retained half of a 8 million dollar contract for a guy who is 29 and put up 0 points in 11 games last year

1. Joey’s 30
2. He had 28 points in 55 games last year

So, so very wrong

My bad on the wins number, but I don’t think a rebuild is what’s happening here. We sold at the deadline, but the kids came through. There’s no need to go full scorched earth when you already have a young, solid corps of players. A retool in an attempt to add another high round next year is the best course of action. Allows for the development of our young players, while also giving us an opportunity to find the to end talent we need. I don’t see this lasting more than 1 or 2 seasons. Tops.

The Johansen move was obviously clearing cap for something, which leads me to believe we’re gonna be buying on a big time asset.

I agree that the rebuild might only last a year or two but that is still a rebuild in my opinoin, maybe we just disagree about the terminology but mean the same thing?

Drouin was gone it was just a matter of return . If you remember that year correctly Palat, Killorn, Johnson and Drouin Ll needed new contracts and after refusing assignment and going home like a little B**** everyone knew Drouin was the odd man out. Again tell yourself whatever you need to make this assinine trade sound like a win for TB. Just remember lying to yourself is still lying. TB needs a shutdown defender not another offense first guy.

I really think you should reevaluate broberg, I would personally keep colton and I do in my mock ACGM but Broberg is a very good 2-way defender, he just needs to be utilized properly

A rebuild implies that we’re building an organization from the ground up. That’s not what the Preds are doing imo.

I feel as if a retool is a more accurate description. It doesn’t strike me as something like we’re building from the ground up in terms of the connotation. I’d say a retool is building up around the base of your organization, instead of starting from the ground up.

You may be right and we agree. Hopefully this lets you see what I mean

they cant run it back with the same roster, with bouchard making 3.5, kostin at 1.25, mcleod at 1.75, and lavoie at 850k they would be 1.5m over and only have a 21 man roster, for sure foegle and yam are gone, prob ceci too if they want an upgrade

Waive Campbell. Point still stands, Broberg isn’t being traded for futures only a roster upgrade.

I would say its a rebuild because NSH is planning on being a bottom 5 team in the league this next season and will be adding a player to their core which will be part of the ground up and they already have some other pieces of the future core that they drafted in preivous years. I think a retool implies that the team will still be competive in my opinion.

Missing the whole point. Tampa bay lighting team u root for trade good player to team for young prospect who doesn’t play good defense at all. He was drafted for his offensive skills yet after being in tampas system is now one of the go to guys to kill penaltys and kill time but whatever you say

how tf do you waive a player making 5 mil????? and the "futures" would be used as part of a trade to get a top 4RD like they have been packaging broberg in anyway.

I don’t think we’re banking on a bottom 5 season. It seems as if Trotz is poised to make at least somewhat of an addition this offseason. It’s probably the reason we cleared cap with trading Joey

You put him on waivers and when nobody claims him he gets sent down to the AHL. Kinda like Vrana when he was with DET.

What would you even retool around? Forsberg and saros? Those are the only players in your roster currently that have showed success at the nhl level besides mac and Josi who will both be 35-37 by the time your “retool”is over. And don’t get me started on that duchane contract😂. This team is going to rebuild there is no shame in that they did good making the playoffs a couple of times

Don’t argue he is right. All contending teams retain 4 mil on a player for 2 more years in exchange for nothing

So much of this is wrong lmao. Nashville has plenty of pieces to build around - Josi, Forsberg, Tomasino, Evangelista, Glass, Novak, Parssinen, and Saros/Askarov. We have plenty of promising young players coming up the ranks, and we still have prospects in the system. Kemell looks like a stud and could be playing in the NHL as soon as next year. The team lacks a true 1C. That’s our number 1 priority.

Also, Duchene has been producing at an 8m level for years now. He looks solid. Maybe do some research before you make a bad argument

Never said we’re contending. Just saying we aren’t a bottom 5 team in the league, and we already have pieces to be competitive in the near future.

They also had to pay a buyout penalty with a 2/3 ratio for the remaining 2 years and Campbell has 4 years left, there is 0% chance that happens on a contending team

Assuming you mean Johansen, we have a surplus of centers. He isn’t the 1C we need, and was taking a roster spot away from a young players. That’s why we traded him

Lol I did plenary of research.
Duchene is putting up 60 points for 8 million dollars at 32 years old and that contract won’t be up until 2026

Tomasino and glass are borderline bottom 6 prospects at this point if they can still be called prospects

Josi will be 34-35 when your predicted retool is up

Mac will likely be out of the leauge if not he sure won’t be with nashville

Parssinen is a b tier prospect and he’s already 22

What good is askarov besides a trade piece with saros ahead of him

Saros him self will be 30+ when you just start to sniff the playoffs which I don’t think you will

Besides kemell, forsberg ( who will also be 30), kunin and Saros there is no prospect or young player to build around. This team is old and not much skill on the way to help out

This team is missing a lot more than just a 1c who you will mostly definitely have to aquire by trading away the key “corner stone” players you just mentioned

Trotz is not the one making moves, he has made 1 move. Trading away a player who could be seen as valuable for a contending team and decided to increase his value by retaining 50%. And with all that value added up he was able to aquire… your kidding right. There is no move to be made, they are a selling team. A unqualified gm. Why are you in such denial about the state of this team

Kunin got traded over a year ago now, and was perhaps the worst player on the team last year. Like bruh, this is stupid asf. You clearly don’t know what you’re talking about here

I’m not even gonna pick on the absurdity of the other claims
