Okay, so when you consider the reports that Tampa is trying to extend Killorn and Colton has “priced himself out (3.5+), how does Tampa not need to dump him?
Colton has not "priced himself" out, all that's been said is he is looking for a significant raise, which Tampa can give him. A bunch of reporters looking for clicks and attention than decided to run with this false narrative that Colton has priced himself out of Tampa.
Like with Palat last year, Tampa may have(not confirmed) offered Killorn a very low aav, long term deal, but all indicators are that, like with Palat, Killorn will be looking for a higher aav deal and test FA. Tampa is a well run organization, and the moves they made to get Jeannot and Eyssimont, plus the planned promotion of at least one Syracuse F, will fill in the middle and bottom 6 vacancies, while Colton is finally unblocked from having a top 6 role. Colton is 7 years younger and the far more valuable asset long term vs Killorn. It's a pretty easy decision who they should be keeping.
If Colton is traded, it will be before Killorn re-signs, and Tampa will get what they are interested in, not accepting scraps from another team. Plenty of teams will be interested, and unlike with N.J. agms and the majority of their fans on here, teams such as Pittsburgh, S.J., Edmonton, Vancouver etc have posted reasonable deals for Colton that Tampa would seriously consider based on their needs.
