What they gain:

- Mainly ~8MM in cap space to address the center position if Bergeron and Krejci retire.
- They add a bottom 6 (likely 4th-line) veteran center on a decent enough deal once 50% retained. Without Bergeron or Krejci they would be slotting in prospects immediately without moving out cap, so this buys them time to maneuver elsewhere and at worse is a 4th line piece.
- Allows no money on the books for Reilly this year (333k) and next year (1.333 mil)
- Maybe they resign Bertuzzi with the freed Hall money as a younger option. Allows some flexibility.
- Plus, they get a 3rd rounder (93OA) this year which would be their second highest pick (immediately after their 92OA pick) in a deep draft. May help them given their lack of picks. Maybe they flip it.

Dickinson at 1.325MM - worth a 3rd/4th

-What they gain:

- Hall would be a great mentor for Bedard with the pressure of a 1st, and is a reliable solid vet to have him play with to begin his career.
- Reilly could be our 7th D-Man and fill in if the youngins are hurt/need a break or AHL time in KD's mind.
- KD has said he does not anticipate taking all of the picks we have in this draft. This pick essentially goes to helping Bedard start his career off stronger, which is worth a lot. It also would be our 8th pick of the night with the next one at 99OA.
- My only concern is this would keep us out of the top 5... just kidding we'll still suck!
