What is the value you are looking for? IS it Turbo or are you looking for another piece?
I dont think the Sharks move him but that contract is only going to age poorly as more talent is traded from the Sharks to rebuild.

CGY isn't doing thay trade. It's just Drury. Those other two pieces are scraps. CGY has 8+ of those guys.

I would agree but Grier did say hertl is the only sharks untouchable, and you are still trading for a legit one C. Teuvo is not a piece the sharks would consider valuable in this trade. RN we would be looking for young players that are near NHL ready, or a lot of draft capital.

I don't think Hertl waives his NMC, but a 1st plus prospects would be an acceptable deal. Maybe the Canes give up better prospects (not Morrow or Nikishin) or more picks to improve on this package.

Under the assumption that both under performed this past season and likely to get worse, as Calgary gets worse, the Canes are giving some value for retaining. Calgary gets out of the deals before they are sunk costs. Canes get 2 players who they think they can revive their values and contribute to a winning squad.

That is entirely possible. Maybe hertl waives knowing SJ is going full rebuild but he may not either.

Turbo should recover nicely this season and would give a nice piece to eat 50% and move at the deadline. He isn’t a requirement to add to the deal. We could sub in a trikizov or similar player

what I was thinking exactly bones of deal are fine but quality is a little lacking, but from a personal perspective hertl is my favorite player and I also love Aho so id like to make this happen for peanuts

I like this and would like to avoid retention on a 3rd player as we will likely have karlsson and burns for 2 more years leaving one spot open

The retention part was just if you traded him at the deadline to get more value, not at the time of this trade. Sorry for any confusion.

      gleb trikizov, gunler, honka, 24 1st and philly’s 24 2nd?

If you're CGY you don't trade term....period. You trade pending UFAs 1st. If you get value in the offseason great, but TDL works just fine. Then 2 year deals only of the opposite team caves to your terms. If they don't you wait until the TDL again and maybe even TDL next year. Gotta maximize value at all costs.

No such thing as "get out of deals" when you're getting taken advantage of. Bokk provides no value. Coghlan only slightly more than Bokk, but still close to zero. They have Coghlan in their system and can find dozen+ of Coghlans as UFAs too.

Im not sure how Calgary is “getting taken advantage of” when Markstrom’s value was a minus 7 million which is 5 times the extra value that Coleman added. With a lot of the top half of the team moving soon, markstrom’s numbers aren’t likely to rebound to 21-22 numbers.

My man, you're taking 1 year and calling it his career. You still need to ice a team. You still need to get to the cap floor. You still need to do player development. You still need to maximize value. If all this CGY stuff is true...which I do belive it is...then you're rebuilding. "Bad contracts" aren't even that bad. Keep the guys with term. Trade the UFAs. Draft players. Develop from within ESPECIALLY if you're having a hard time keeping players in CGY. Keep the guys with term. Have him back up Wolf if he's as bad as you suggest. His still a veteran that can help Wolf.

What you're trying to do is suggest other teams should sell low and buy high...as long as that team is trade to your team....and you're buying low

I think San Jose wants more than B/C prospects, a rental and likely a late 1st for their 1C

I explained how it wasnt just this year with Markstrom but, okay. Icing a team and getting to the cap floor will be of no issue, my man. Plenty of teams will need to move a contract to make their acquisition of a Flame easier. Moving Markstrom and Coleman gives you more opportunities to take one 1 year players who maybe do something worth while and you can flip at the trade deadline. Likely Toronto and Calgary would have serious interest in Lindholm. Taking on Murray or simliar contract, increases your return. Paying too much for a UFA who didnt get a good offer and hoping to sell them at the deadline, is also an option.

Either way, it isnt a deal breaker than Calgary would not be interested. Other value deals to be made.

I feel like he could be good with Joshua but if he's gonna be playing on our fourth line I'd rather clear the money. He was not bad but not great before injury and I imagine he's not going to come back better
