The leafs don’t score enough. Toffoli would be a great add to the top 6.

Liljegren will likely take a step forward, but if the leafs trade their 1st round pick, they will need to recoup some draft capital. They can’t afford to not pick until the 5th round.

Barbashev showed in the playoffs that he’s exactly what the leafs need. His point production wasn’t great before last season, but we saw this year that when he’s playing with elite players he produces. I think the intangibles he brings are well worth the big contract, especially with the cap going up.

Treliving loves massive defenceman, and soucy and OEL are exactly that. They can’t afford to get pushed around in front on the net anymore. I think it is worth it to take a flier on OEL. Low risk, high reward, especially with Giordano in the press box ready to play some games if he falters.
