Why would ADB sign in the dumpster fire of Calgary, if he doesn't want to sign with the up and coming Ottawa team?

DeBrincat isn't extending in CGY. Also I don't like that deal for OTT at all. Get a younger more cost controlled player than Toffoli.

Both teams suck now and forever. He wants to come home to Detroit.

Zadina is a bust to me. Defensively capable with little offensive upside. I don't view him as much value given he is 23 and nothing more than a depth winger.
Fabbri is 27 and wildly inconsistent. Wouldn't place high value on him either. 3C at best.
Ottawa's best return will be in futures. Which is almost always the case in trading high end players. If they can get back what they traded for him, it would be fair. Or a similar young player at a different position.

How would that be fair? He now has one less year of RFA control, just had an under-performing season, now has Ottawa cooties, and and this is much deeper draft.

OTT traded a 7th and 39th along with a 3rd. A contender would be sending probably a 20th+, 50th+, and their own third. Even in a stronger draft, that's still fair equivalent value to get DeBrincat.

I think Doiron would be lucky to get Zadina and 17OA from Detroit. That would be Yzerman showing mercy.

I like Toffoli but he's 6 years older than DeBrincat and signing him long term would not be a good idea due to age so he can't be a main piece in return for ADB
