Why pay this cost for Laughton? They already have a similar player in Roy.

Solid depth and get a player that fits the system and adds a strong player for another deep playoff run.

They might have more pressing needs by TDL, and they won't be able to address it. So, while there's merit in adding someone that could fit the scheme, they probably don't want to be paying a high price for it when they already have a similar guy.

Unlikely, that they bring back Hill, especially at that price, so goaltending is probably something that they may need to address if Thompson gets injured again. I think they will just re-sign Brossoit as the 1B on a cheap deal or maybe they trade for Vladar.

Martinez might be a guy that they decide they need to upgrade on as well, come trade deadline assuming they don't toss him aside this off-season.

Also the rumour is that PHI turned down a 2023 late 1st (25th or 29th) and a future 3rd, so not sure your 2024 1st and 2025 2nd gets it done. Not saying he's worth it, but just saying thats probably not the winning offer.

Yeah literally. You know I always laugh at alot of these ACGM's, because fans have a certain view point that they go off of and then the NHL just does the complete opposite of what the fans think they are going to do lol. Its funny how that works
