He isn't a UFA... so NYR probably take the 4 1st round picks from detroit in compensation.

I didn't realize a ~40 point player averaging 14 minutes per game and roughly only one minute of powerplay time per game, drives play and is physical on the forecheck is considered a "total flop". Is it 1st overall type production-- no, but he's still a valuable NHL player.

Alex Lafreniere was drafted #1 overall in the 2020 NHL draft, He basically been playing 3rd line minutes with the Rangers. His numbers have been totally disappointing. Raymond drafted #4 overall has already been putting up better numbers in Detroit than Lafreniere in New York. Perhaps he's not a flop. But nobody is saying that he's living up to his draft position.

And besides it's pretty much down to Dallas and Detroit for Cat. My gut tells me he'll be a Star by next Wednesday at the draft.

Raymond is averaging over 3 minutes more per game and last year alone had almost as much powerplay time as Laffy has gotten in 3 years. (219 last year for Raymond vs 276 total for Laffy through 3 years).. His play driving numbers are all there, and almost all of his production has come at 5v5. Just needs to be put in a position to actually succeed-- here is hoping that's what Laviolette does
