I don’t know why you make the Washington trade if you are trying to tank. I can only assume your plan is to tank when 50% of your Dmen are AHL calibre players…Also as a Canucks fan, I wouldn’t make that Washington trade if I wanted to compete or rebuild.

Washington isn’t going to trade back out of the Top 10 to get rid of Mantha, that’s terrible.

I've read and seen multiple reports that Mantha is not looked favorably by the organization due to his lack of work ethic and inconsistency. I'm pretty sure if all it took was to drop back from 8 to 11 to shed over 5 million in cap space the Capitals would leap at that deal. I certainly as a Canucks fan wouldn't want the organization to make that deal. Getting rid of that kind of cap hit usually takes a mid-late first or multiple picks to unload.

You were talking about the blue line which I quoted so that you should clearly see what I was talking about. Right now all the Canucks have signed is Myers, Hronek and Hughes so the rest would be filled by AHL guys or prospects. Now do I think they'll go into the season like that, no. I'm sure they'll sign someone or make a trade but as we stand here right now that is literally what the Canucks blue line would look like... except Johansson would probably be Woo and Hirose for Rathbone but that would make little difference in the grand scheme of things.

thanks for clearing that up, my exact point was that I don't expect the Canucks going into training camp with just those dman only. I can see them target players like soucy, graves, and more.

I sure hope so smile Especially Graves. He's just a perfect fit for what they need.

Main point of th AGM was the trade up scenerio. Quickly through together the rest of the team, didn’t feel like going through and signing a bunch of guys

This is stupid. The Capitals can buy out Mantha and it will cost them just over $600k this season and $2M next season. They’re certainly not going to be moving back in the 1st Rd (from a Top 10 Pick) to dump his contract. No team in the history of the NHL since the introduction of the Salary Cap has traded a “Cap Dump” to move out of the Top 10 EVER, it’s literally never happened. Face it, the idea is stupid and Washington isn’t going to do it.
