I would take this for Hayes - who knows what is being offered, but another 1st in 2023 would be fine with me. I really would've liked to deal with CLB and get a higher potential prospect like Bemstrom or even a solid young D like Bean, but at this point, just add the picks and lets go. 3 years of retention when we're not even gonna be competing for 2 of them means nothing. And even the cap at that point will be up over 90 mm (according to projections), so 2.1 shouldn't be a big deal for a year.

With how many teams were trying to sign him, I would value him as a late 1st-mid 2nd. I don't think any team would trade that for him atm though. Just think you'd be thrilled to get a B.M out of something in that range.
