Slaf+ Leonard > Fantilli. Let alone all the other pieces. Slaf still has 90 point potential while Leonard got 80, and both players are made for playoff hockey, which is super important. Not saying Fantilli isn’t a playoff guy, 2 playoff guys is better than 1

Ducks fan here-I'm not wildly high on Slaf, but getting him, Michkov/Smith, 31 OA, and a 2nd would obviously be stupid to say no to (Not sure why Monty is there...

That being said, it's not happening.

Value is there for sure. THey should do that if Smith is there at 5.

Youre referring to Ryan Leonard? Whos to say Anaheim picks him or even MTL if they stay at 5OA. You cant judge the fact he got 80 points at NTDP and automatically assume it will translate into the show. You cant say that Slaf has 90 point potential? he was on pace for 21 points total in an 82 game season. You also cant deem them 'made for playoff hockey' guys because Slavkovsky hasnt sniffed an NHL playoff game and Leonard hasnt even played an NHL game. Not saying you cant speculate and look into a crystal ball for the future but you cant spit opinions when theyre not true facts.

Monty is for when Gibby leaves via trade. He does not want to be there. Value is here all day long may just take some tweaking. If MTL wants that 2OA they need to pay and if theyre willing to do that they have to start with some valuable pieces.

I thought it was at least a conversation starter. Does MTL get something in return with the 2OA giving up what I said? Maybe but I'm not sure.

Like I said above, if they want that 2OA badly enough they have to be prepared to swing for the fences.

They have played, especially Slaf, in high-end games. Slaf has as many points as Fantilli and Carlsson have combined, for WC. That is impressive right there and shows he performs in high-end games. Saying he is nowhere near guaranteed to hit his potential is just ridiculous because J. Hughes showed just recently how the 1st season means nothing to a career. If you bring in Laffy as a counter-example, I'll say this: Slaf has one of the best work ethics and character of any young player in the league, and that is what leads to a player hitting his potential. J Hughes has a better work ethic than Laffy and I'm sure that's why Hughes is a superstar and why Laffy has yet to shine as a top liner. I said Leonard just because that is who MTL will pick, and rightfully so. He also seems like a player with a very good work ethic and has solid all-around play with a good offensive touch. I am not considering 5th OA and Slaf for Fantilli, and neither are the Habs because that would be a straight up dumb trade on the long run

Hawks decline. No chance they pay even a 7th for Hoffman
