Karlsson with that much retention will get a kings ransom. Like two of Detroits 23 first/edvinsson/kasper. Even with Karlsson this doesn’t make them more than a WC contender so he’s not a player they should target. Also they would need to pay Raymond and seider the next year and are already capped out

0 chance any deal involving Karlsson get's the value of 2 top 10 picks+. Sharks didn't even pay that much to get him, at least not intentionally. I understand the dude just had a historic season, but he's aging and could easily never play a full season again based on his injury history. There's a reason he hasn't already been traded. Just like Ottawa took the risk that Norris would end up a star and a draft pick that was supposed to be late 1st. They got lucky. San Jose will need to risk that their return ends up worth the value of Karlsson and not the other way around for the team acquiring him.

I get all of that but OP is asking the sharks to retain 22 million over 4 years on a guy coming off a Norris. His price will be hefty. I think he’s traded with less retained and less of a return
