Transactions
1.
BUF
  1. Appleton, Mason
  2. Harkins, Jansen
  3. Hellebuyck, Connor
Détails additionnels:
BUF receive a top 5 goalie in the league to mentor Levi
BUF aren't ready to give the net to Levi, so I think Hellebuyck make sense. Appleton brings some grit much needed. Harkins there to balance the contract slots a little bit
WPG
  1. Jokiharju, Henri
  2. Luukkonen, Ukko-Pekka
  3. Mittelstadt, Casey
Détails additionnels:
This is NOT the final package !
WPG don't want to commit to a full rebuilt
So I am giving them piece for the holes they have
They get a breaking out C/LW in Mittekstadt, a maybe future starting goalie in UPL and a young RHD
-
Jets fans, what future piece would need to be added ?
Sabres fans, what would you be willing to add without making it lopsided ?
2.
BUF
  1. Simek, Radim
Détails additionnels:
I know Simek had his load of injuries last season, but a healthy Simek is an upgrade on Stillman & Bryson. If he isn't fully healthy, he goes on IR and Stillman slots in the 3LHD spot. I'm not high on Bryson personally
SJS
  1. Comrie, Eric
  2. Olofsson, Victor
Détails additionnels:
SJ acquire players to fill roster spot
They both will bring assets at the 2024 TDL if they stays healthy

Sharks accept. Simek is good when he is being himself. He is a very physical dman with strong defensive IQ.

I feel like if the Jets are moving Helly to BUF they will be asking for Krebs, UPL and 2023 1st. Of course this comes with the stipulation that helly signs something like a 4x8m type deal.

I just can’t see the jets taking that package. But again, Chevy is an absolute maniac and who knows what he’ll do. I have a really bad feeling about the trades he’s going to make this summer. I’m sure BUF will end up getting helly for olofsson and a 1st…… 🤮

Realistic parts:
1. Targeting Dumba (a good fit in terms of character, leadership, physicality and mobility)
2. Re-signings of Jost & Rousek (two reliable bottom 6 options)

Unrealistic parts:
1. Trading for Hellebuyck (all of the oft-stated issues about being a rental; contract extension; and impact on Levi's path)
2. Trade of Mittelstadt (Sabres won't deal him at moment; Adams sees him as potentially part of their core)
3. San Jose wanting a soon-to-be 28 year old winger on an expiring contract for their rebuild
4. Term on Dumba's contract (it's probably realistic to think Dumba would take less pay if he gets longer term but I can't see Adams giving 6 years to any free agent who doesn't fit in the 22-25 age group of his core)
5. Continuation of Krebs as 4C with Jost ahead of him

Questionable parts:
1. Re-signing of Girgensons for another 2 years - if Adams doesn't find a replacement in trade or free agency with better faceoff skills and a little cheaper, I could see him circling back to Girgensons with the same cap hit as what Okposo got. I don't think he'd offer him a second year though....and he may still want to see how training camp goes to see how Kulich / Savoie / Rousek perform before committing to Girgensons. Will Girgensons wait that long to have his future decided? Probably not but that's the question......
2. Adams adding another LHD for the 3rd pairing from outside when he probably wants to see how Johnson performs in camp first.

Sharks are subtracting a LD out of a very big logjam of LD. Adding a goal scorer that might put a few more butts in seats for a dwindling fanbase. Its a good move for SJ.

Doesn't sound like what Grier has been advocating for their strategy - if it were about PR appeal, there wouldn't be rampant talk about Karlsson being available after the career year and impact he had. He also emphasized a need to make their roster younger; Olofsson wouldn't do that.

I think even if Hellebuyck doesn't extend, it's a good deal for BUF nonetheless
Moved Jost on 4C and moved up Krebs 3C
Dumba will ask for both money & terms, but I can't see him getting both. Maybe drop down the length, 4-5 years around 5.75M
I think BUF need more grit, so bringing in Appleton, moving up Greenway and bringing back Girgensons makes the team better IN MY OPINION
I would really use Mitts as the center piece for Hellebuyck
I would leave Savoie & Kulich in the AHL to develop, not rushing them

Anyway, appreciate the feedback !

The Karlsson stuff has never been from Grier. 90% of that has been circulated rumours and speculation from the media. All Grier has said in regards to that is they are willing to trade him if a team is willing to meet their needs. So far none has. He’s done nothing but advocate for Karlsson and how good he has been on and off the ice. Read between the lines in the media and watch Griers TDL and locker cleanout interviews if you want the facts.

Under your premise of "realistic", it still won't happen.

Evolving Hockey had him forecasted at $4.4x3, which seems too low; if the Sabres do pursue Dumba and want him, I wouldn't expect more than a 3-4 year term and probably maximum $5M cap hit with bonus/incentive clauses to make up for any possible downgrade Dumba may feel he'd face from his prior contract. A lot would depend on whether or not Adams - via Tuch, Greenway and Jost - are able to persuade Dumba to take less on a 'prove-it' type deal. He intimated that he might consider that if it meant he could stay in Minnesota; whether or not he takes the same approach with another team is anyone's guess.

Agreed - but I would rather let Girgensons go and sign another comparable winger that brings some more intangibles. Someone like Oskar Sundqvist, at 6'-3" / 209 / 29 yrs old, with experience playing all 3 forward positions; both specialty teams; and is no worse a skater than Girgensons. The differences would be that Sundqvist plays a more bruising, smashmouth type game and he has winning playoff experience from two Cup rings, something the Sabres' locker room could benefit from when they qualify for the playoffs and face a whole new world of pressures. Sundqvist is coming off a $2.5M deal as UFA so his new deal won't be far off from what Girgensons would be asking for.

Dumba is the best RHD available with Mayfield. He will probably take the best deal available for him. Would you be ok with Mayfield (4X4) or Clifton (4X3) ?

Mayfield is big, blocks shots and plays physically but he wouldn't fare well in the transition game Buffalo plays and Clifton doesn't move the needle for top 4 upgrade IMO.

uhh nothing against the valuations, but how is this realistic? Adams' biggest move as a buyer in his 3 years as GM is trading bloom for stillman lmao. Thats not the kind of GM who makes a hellebuyck trade.
