The TBL pick this year is 19th overall, and I don't see them being much better next year, if not worse. Murphy is a very good defensive defenseman, and Nazar is gonna be a stud and was a 13th overall pick last year. All of that for 2 years of control over Marner is a gross overpay. Especially seeing as CHI is rebuilding and has no use for paying that much for a guy that is a UFA in two years and likely doesn't want to be part of a rebuild and will likely walk. It would be a huge waste of assets that we would be lucky to recoup if we flipped him before his contract is up.
