Honestly it makes a lot of sense (not only the Bailey to Chicago trade because it’s been done to death) but actually I think you could get Kane for cheaper depending on what happens with NYR. He wouldn’t have to move his family, he has a good relationship with Barzal and he could rebuild his value for a longer term contract next season.

I legitimately wonder if you could get him cheaper, considering he is going to be rehabbing for most of the season, maybe closer to 4 million?

Based on Backstrom and Jovanski's experiences, I think he would be able to play in 20 some-odd games, but if we just call it 30 he should probably be getting 2-2.6m, and they could maybe just give him 1.5M in Regular season performance bonuses and 1M in playoff bonuses both based on games played, the latter also production. They should probably sign Tarasenko as well, if they are able to move one of their Cs.
