McTavish is Anaheim’s future 1C / 2C and as well has a high ceiling.
Mintyukov is listed as the 4th highest rated defensive prospect in the league.

All this for a player who could walk in free agency is NOT worth it for a rebuilding team.

Anaheim is not doing this. Not now, not ever. Matthews is not worth that.

Because the Leafs will be hard pressed to find a team willing to sell the farm to acquire a player that's going to demand that type of contract. And I'm sure most GMs would be willing to wait on him hitting free agency.

I am sure the Leaf's will give him what her wants and sign him. But I think you are wrong. When a player of his caliber comes along you don't wait and see you push your way to the front of the line and try and get him.
