It's not ideal, but like OP said in title, he's probably the best option due to his cheap acquisition cost and fits as a good short term plug in the top 6 as young guys develop. In yr 3 they can either move him out if needed or drop him down to 3C and have Boone play wing.

What on earth are you talking about? He's getting paid the same no matter what what. How much he impacts CBJ's cap is a massive factor when they consider trading for him. It's not about how much money he's making, that's not changing.
