Would love to add Hathaway & Acciari.

I like any trade involving future picks so the CGY deal is great.

I’d prefer not to re-sign Suter for that amount and/or term. I wouldn’t hate it tho because I think he’s actually still improving as a player and we’ve yet to see his best hockey.

I don’t really care for the Ryan Johannsen trade but I guess it’s only costing us an extra $4m for a premium position but I’m not sure how much better we get.

Deal doesn't entice Calgary at all.

Tanev and Vladar are pretty much perfect fits, but not a fan of signing Hathaway & Acciari. Yes we need toughness, but Veleno?, Söderblom?, Zadina?, Mazur? Those guys should be getting ice time to continue their development. I don't think it's a smart idea to pay your 4th line 7+Million when the Top 6 needs upgrades. Rather sign a Top 6 player who makes 7-million and fill the bottom-6 with Veleno, Zadina, Söderblom...

I don't like Suter for that amount either but I read he wants like 3.5M. i guess he's a premier penalty killer so that really entices me. I also think he is still improving so maybe it's a bargain in the future.
Johansen is a premium position, premium face-off guy and plays with a bit of an edge. Fabbri is effective when he's healthy but that's the biggest issue. Plus one of the main reasons I make this trade is so Copp can play the wing where I think he's more reflective and ideally play on Kasper's wing to help his development. But yeah Johansen 59.2% on draws last season, that's huge for me. One of the ideas here is to have the pick not so wet aren't chasing. If I take Larkin, Johansen, Copp cause I don't know how Kasper will be, and Acciari's face-off percentages, we would average 54.3%, that's 5% more we have possession. Also like I said before RyJo plays with a bit of an edge and can be pesky, also he's decent was a 200 foot player. His point totals really lack but great underlying numbers. It's your lucky day since you get my whole spiel on RyJo.

Ok well then we are close. I valued the deal at a 2nd, 3rd and 4th. I thought by adding Viro, who is a nice young player, that it would be a bit closer. Vladar being worth a 3rd is debatable. I valued him at the 4th. The last two seasons he's basically been an average 0.900 goalie which isn't bad. He's the same age as Ned when Ned was traded and he just posted a 0.932 save percentage. Husso was two years older but just posted a 0.919 save percentage. I wouldn't be disappointed at a third but I think a fourth is fair. The only advantage he has is he's signed but neither of those other two goalies would have got traded if they didn't know they were going to sign with the team.

Veleno will get reps. Him and Zadina can swap in with Acciari and Hathaway. Also you know very well there will be injuries. Soderblom I think needs more time in the AHL. No need to rush him, let him grow into his body. Mazur I have starting in the AHL but called up if injuries happen or else after the deadline when Kubalik is traded. I just want to give him about half a season there as like a stepping stone.
The problem I see with paying someone in free agency 7M to play top line is 1) who would sign here? Kane likely not. Tarasenko likely not. Killorn maybe cause the connection and he's actually the only one I would want. No one else is worth that kind of money. 2) this team doesn't improve defensively. I don't think Zadina is bad defensively but I have Hathaway there for his defensive play and physicality. Zadina barely averages 1 hit a game. If I swap Veleno in for Acciari our face-off win rate drops about 10%, Veleno at least hits but Acciari's defensive play is far superior. I kept both Veleno and Zadina so they can hopefully learn from guys like Acciari and Hathaway. My big focus was improving defensive play and getting pick possession more often. I think of I took that money and signed Killorn say, we might score a few more goals but we are still easy to play against, not great in our own end and that I think hurts team morale and development more. Also I want Rasmussen on the top line and adding a top free agent would move everyone down. I am expecting guys like Berggren and Ras to take steps forward from an offensive stand point. Also one more thing, you look at teams that consistently win and they have good fourth lines. They may only play 12-14 minutes a night but they provide energy and can buy relied upon when needed. It's also your lucky day as you got my fourth line spiel.
