I get that he had a very productive playoff, but the guy was 36th in D scoring on the highest scoring team in the league, that is not a top 5 offensive guy.

He didn't get to play #1 PP or get #1 minutes until the Ekholm trade. He was playing a sheltered 3rd pairing role for over half the season. his game transformed with Ekholm. He had 18pts in 21 games after the trade... that's a 70pt pace which would put him 9th last year. That's also as you said, not including playoffs. If you include playoffs (17pts in 12 games) that is an 84-point pace, which would be second in the league. (That's also a larger sample of 34 games).

I fully expect him to keep this up in a full season playing 22+ minutes a night with Ekholm and on the #1 PP in league history.

So yea I believe he'll be a top 5 offensive defensive next season.

I don't think I would offer 13oa for hellebuyck. I really only want hellebuyck as a rental, and I don't think adams is gonna move 13oa for a rental. That doesn't get lindholm, even if you think calgary is gonna rebuild, somebody beats that offer. The Sabres don't need offensive defensemen, they need defensive d, plus somebody else would likely offer more for Bouchard. I think you are giving up a lot in the Sharks trade, plus I think the Sabres would keep jokiharju for depth. I am fine with moving on from Bryson, but I don't want anymore small forwards. We have literally 6 forwards under 5'11" coming, 4 are first round picks, the value favors buffalo here, but the fit is awful. The ufa signings are nice. I see what you are trying to do here, I think you identified a lot of what needs to be addressed- a vet goalie, a very good two way center, a right shot physical defensive d, and getting rid of guys that we can walk away from. Last thought, if mittelstadt is your 4c, it's time to see what his market looks like, his numbers aren't going to get any better playing 10 minutes a night with okposo and Greenway.
