I think for sure they would.. they now have a logjam of sorts at right D .. Severson, Boqvist, Peeke, Gudbranson, Blankenburg, Jiricek .. someone has to go to make room for someone, and these assets are pretty good, if the Jackets can subsequently dump Kuraly's contract on someone else, one 4th line center for another (Evans). Getting Joshua Roy for the system seems like a nice bet, despite being a 5th round pick, he's listed at 6'0 and 190lbs, and has torn up the Q the last two seasons. Then, they get the 30th overall pick to add to their draft roster, and a 4th.

I take this all friggin day as Columbus.. even if they like Boqvist, with the pieces they have in place now, Blankenburg or Jiricek can easily take his spot on the depth chart.

All that said, I wouldn't do this as the Canadiens.. they already have so many good young defenceman in Justin Barron, Kaiden Guhle, Arber Xhekaj, Jordan Harris, Jordan Struble, Logan Mailloux .. they don't need to add Boqvist at this cost.

I would add Boqvist but you're correct that this cost is too much.

CBJ is not going to want a slew of stuff... if they're selling Boqvist off, it might well be to buy a 1C (or someone who holds the fort) if they can engineer it.
