San Jose is years away from being good. I don't see them being a good suitor for Hart. They should keep their picks and prospects. Goalie tends to be the last piece teams focus on for a reason.

100%! Agree. For 3 reasons
First because Bystedt improved a lot this year and looks like a potential defensive middle 6 C with offensive upside! Think a poor man’s Danault type.

Second those two picks are far too valuable for a rebuilding club with a thin prospect pool, especially since the NJD 24 2nd could wind up being a 1st potentially.

& Third sharks aren’t going to be good next year and 24 draft looks decent but falls off much faster than 23 draft does. Hart hurts the sharks chances at a top 2 pick.

Yeah, makes sense since they have no goalie, and he's 24. They might just have 3 more years in their rebuild and by then he would only be 27 which is still young for a goalie.

Jeff Marek speculated they are interested. Speculation and fact are very different things. SJ will not send highly valuable picks and prospects for a goalie when they are still years from competing. Especially not Bystedt. Very easy pass.

Doubt they could get both Bystedt and a 1st. Maybe something like….

- Bystedt, Chrona, 2nd
- Zetterlund, Mann, 1st
- Lund, 1st, 2nd

Yeah it does seem odd for Marek to report it cause of where they are at in their rebuild process but who knows GMs fall in love with certain players all the time and must trade for them lol

Theyre probably thinking about when Grier said at his end of year presser that he wanted to address the goaltending. But I think he meant in the context of addressing the system hence why he let 2021 3rd round pick Gaudreau re-enter the draft and signed Romanov and Chrona. Kahkonen is obviously not a future starter and Makiniemi could be if he stayed healthy. I wont be surprised if SJ signs or trades for a goalie this summer but it won’t be at the expense of their top prospects and high end picks.

I can see Grier trading a combination of Mario Ferraro, Noah Gregor and or Fabian Zetterlund maybe even in conjunction with a 2nd or 3rd for a better goalie but he won’t touch one of our top 5 prospects..
