most of this all makes a semblance of sense, if not perfect sense. I actually do think that the Pens-Flyers trade makes a ton of sense if you ignore the fact that its Pens-Flyers

Insanely hard pass from Detroit. Hart makes zero sense to Detroit, look elsewhere.

Cause of Husso, who was bad in the NHL? Or Nedeljkovic who was meh in the AHL? Or Cossa who was mediocre in the ECHL?

I like both trades but Wings definitely decline it’s not a player they need for those assets spent

So wait…the pens pay for your worse cap dump? No thanks. The pens should be getting the 1st and flyers get the 2nd.

None of the above.

'Cause Detroit is in a rebuild and need the picks more than they need a star goalie at this point. Detroit have huge holes in their lineup, on RD, on 1st line LW, on 2C, and a paltry prospect pool on all positions except LD.

Making this trade would be akin to buying new furniture for a house that's on fire. Cossa is developing fine and had a very strong 2nd half of the season and is fighting for the starter job in Grand Rapids next season. Husso did very well until he was overworked and got injured. Detroit is more helped by a solid backup to take the load off Husso than they are by spending assets that are better needed elsewhere to replace him.

Husso is underrated. Hagg and Oesterle played big minutes in front of him so let’s see what happens with average defense. Cossa is legit. People forget it often takes goalies a while to develop.

I would disagree about the paltry prospect pool comment. Kasper could be a star, Mazur could easily be top 6, Soderblom and Lombardi could both easily be top 9, Hanas has interesting potential. All that said, yes Detroit would greatly benefit from a true 1C and bump Larkin to 2C. But I think Kasper becomes 2C by the end of the season.

Thread starter try not to get defensive challenge: impossible

You opened with stating these either make a semblance of sense or perfect sense. I personally don't mind the cost, Detroit just isn't in the greatest position to be giving futures for a young goalie given the desperate lack of scoring on the roster where 17oa could be better utilized. (Ie a Cat or Konecny trade).

Also trading 17oa+ for Hart doesn't make a lot of sense when we just used a 15oa on Cossa. The Wings have been firmly on the build through the draft train, I expect they intend to see that through

I'm not offended by disagreeing, but just hard "no's" without any evidence is annoying. Hart makes a lot of sense to me when looking at the bad goaltending in Detroit.
and idk, as a non-wings fan, it reads to me a lot like Yzerman is trying to emerge out of the tank phase and into the build to win soon (Perron/Copp/Chiarot). 17oa won't help them for years. Having a solid goalie tandem of Hart-Husso will help. Eventually their draft picks (Wallider, Edvinsson, Kasper, etc) are gonna have to show out in the NHL. They're entering year 5 of the yzerplan with no success to show for it.

Emerge from the tank phase sure, we aren't in the "go for the cup and sell off all our picks for a stopgap" phase either though. Husso already is the stopgap. Cossa is the long term plan.

Sending 17 to get Hart just isn't meaningful to the Wings at this juncture. It's better served getting someone who can score since that is an actual weakness in the prospect pool.

Edvinsson and Kasper also both made their debuts last year, Kasper was the first 18 year old to suit up for the Wings in over 30 years, so they clearly think super highly of him
