How do you think your d core looks next year?

Matheson-Barron
Guhle- Harris
Xhekaj- Savard

Maybe Mailloux can slot in if he is lights out the first month of AHL.

If we were to trade one of the younger guys, I'd say Barron is gone, and Guhle is trained for RD, while Xhekaj slots into the second pair. The other thing about Xhekaj is that he will be amazing in the playoffs, and could take a much more significant role there

A first for the box boy from Costco, thanks, I needed a good laugh today. Love his story, and I can see why he's a fan favorite, but a first, even 32OA, is laughably high.

If you don't want to pay up he stays a Habs cause were are not anywhere near shopping him

It’s just a bridge deal plus he was hurt all last year

For sure, I was just thinking the Sharks have a real need for RD prospects and it might be a risk because he was injured, but no more than the risk of that 2nd round pick not panning out. *shrugs* I assume Anaheim will matching anything, just figured it might drive the contract price up on Drysdale.

Only in Habs-land is Wifi worth a first and PLD is worth a bag of pucks.

We can clearly match any offer sheet that comes in for Drysdale. Sitting on the 4OA pick, it would be INCREDIBLY unwise of the Sharks to try something with an OS. The Pens I can understand, their system is barren, and the 14OA probably doesn't turn into anything special.

Cronin is a great fit for a young team that needs help fixing there defensive issues. Will be huge for rounding out the game of guys like Zegras/McTavish/etc as well as developing those young D prospects.

Curious if this move greases the wheels for the Avs to get Rico or Strome to fill 2C.

Rico I surely could see it but I think since he coached Strome, I think that’s a harder get

That's fair, the Sharks aren't really a possibility, just something I thought of when I saw the 2.7m cap hit in the ACGM.

Oh look, another Matt Murray trade. Only the 18,546 one this week.

makes sense, Leafs need to get rid of his deal. Buying him out would be idiotic as the leafs are already cap strapped and it would cost 2m in dead for the 2024-2025 season, the one where Matthews just backed up the Brink truck for his next deal. 2m means 2 bottom 6 players the leafs wont have the luxury in leaving out as they dont have depth to begin with

And then the price of Murray is a lot like the Monahan deal. Its gonna cost a 1st rounder minimum to dump. So either the Leafs rebuild and this doesnt matter or they make a trade where they pay capital to move the whale of a deal

Yeah, Rico is more likely. Expiring deal would be easy for them to retain on to fit with the Avs cap crunch. Personally would love Strome since he is younger and locked in for a few years at a good price for a 2C. But not sure what the cost to acquire would be.

They have almost $15 million in cap space. They don’t need to trade a first.

They need to sign Samsonov, find 2 nhl quality d men and 5 nhl quality forwards with 1 of them being top 6 caliber if they use Knies or Robertson in the top 6. Then you gotta find another about 5 million in cap to cover 2024 FAs (They can use Brodie expiry but that leaves them a d men short)

We are bummed to lose Cronin in Colorado, but I dig the duck's young talent and Cronin will only make them better. He ought to fit right into the Anaheim timeline.

They have 6 NHL Dmen signed. Will likely add one more. Sammy will get around 3 million. Sammy played well but platooned, was injured and struggled at times. As for forwards, they have Knies, Robertson (yes he still exists) and McMann likely on the roster full-time. With Holmberg a possibility. After Treliving does the rounds I expect he’ll make pitches towards Schenn, Kampf, and Acciari. None of them should come in at over 2 million.

With only 3 picks I don’t see Treliving trading one. That’s the pick they got in the Sandin deal and they are going to downgrade it? At some point you are going to start losing scouts if you only have 3 picks a draft and none in the first round. Dubas was an idiot, he traded 6 1st round picks in his 5 years. He traded picks from the 2023, 24, 25 and 26 draft to make up for his incompetence. Probably why he didn’t come back because he ran out of 1st round picks to trade for 4th liners.
