Seattle is poised for a fairly quiet offseason, but that doesn't mean there aren't moves to be made. This is my latest attempt to explore some ways the Kraken could round out their roster and prepare to take another step forward next year.

I made this ACGM with an eye towards keeping as much quality depth as possible. That was the key to the Kraken's success last year, and I wanted to make sure that depth remained while still retaining the opportunity for big moves down the road. I have Kartye and Wright starting in the AHL to get consistent playing time and being first in line for call-ups should the need arise. However, one or both of these young talented forwards could very easily challenge for a spot in the lineup right out of the gate. Similarly, Evans starts in the AHL, but should be contributing to the main roster in short order.

Besides extending their key RFAs, the most important tasks Seattle has are to fill the hole left by the likely departing Soucy and to figure out the backup goalie situation. For the former, I arranged a deal for a veteran stopgap to hold down the fort until Evans seizes the role. For the latter, I swung a trade from a position of relative depth to address a position of relative weakness, gaining a young backup goalie who still has room to grow. The idea is that this roster will once again be a playoff contender, but with enough flexibility to possibly take some big swings, either at the trade deadline or in the following offseason.
