I never understand why some proposals pitch a trade with the "can be traded anywhere..." or "anyone" - isn't the purpose of proposing a hypothetical trade to identify a reasonable pairing of teams?

Your mistake here is assuming people have put effort or thought into their posts.

Anaheim wouldn't be acquiring Iron Man Murray to replace John Gibson -- both teams would be making that exchange to get Murray off Toronto's books. So we'd be doing it for #59 or #60, not #33.

I do like Voit as long as his game translates to the NHL but the rest is not worth it. I would like either 2 firsts or an A level prospect and a first plus then some extra pieces.

But maybe the post is more of a hypothetically what can my entire roster look like if some trade happens, ie a cap dump in most cases. We live in a flat cap league right now.
