TB might have overpaid for Jeannot, but they'll probably sign him cheap.
I can't see JBB giving up on him just yet to bring back a more expensive Jan Rutta with no place on the right side with Perbix, Cernak, and Raddysh being full-times next season.
Rather use that money signing Ross Co. and possibly Killorn instead.

Wow another jeff Petry trade to Dallas, Too bad his wife is from Houston living in metro Detroit. So Petry doesn't waive.

Crap offers for both Hellebuyck and Newhook. Both Winnipeg and Colorado decline.

As a Pens fan, I like all these deals. None of them have a snowball’s chance of happening but, selfishly, I like them. 😄

I will only comment on that Tampa trade.

Tampa JUST paid 5 draft picks and prospect for Jeannot. the picks were rounds 1 thru 5. INSANE price to pay. We all like Jeannot. But still, none of us understand the trade, considering his contract was done at year end.

Tampa will not be trading Jeannot for Rutta 1 for 1. They would ask for at least 3 picks as well, one being a 1st. Even then, they probably pass, considering what they just paid for him.

Honestly the trade was more or less for cost control for a potential bottom 6 forward with decent upside, the goal is more than likely to turn him into a Goodrow/Coleman style clone at an incredibly cheap cap hit, hence why they overpaid for him as an RFA. TB doesn't care about the picks as they've shown that with the trade itself. They also don't need another RD in system, namely bringing back an older Jan Rutta at a more expensive cap hit than what Jeannot will sign, that's why Cal Foote was launched into the sun in that trade (he wasn't beating out Bogo, Fleury, Raddysh, or Perbix for a roster spot and just never reached his full potential or really developed well in our system)

The WPG deal isn't far off.

Both Blomqvist and Poulin could definitely turn into NHL'ers and the 2024 1st round pick (PIT) is #14, so a steal could happen in that spot.

I would prefer Bloqvist, Pickering and the #14 pick in this draft.

Key word in your post is "Cost Controlled". I would have agreed if he were 800k x 3 years. The fact that he is an RFA made him not cost controlled, long term. So he was clearly a different add than a few of their other deals in the past. 2m x 5 years seems probable in my mind and fair enough if they extend him to that. Any more than that, and I think it's a big problem.

Every year Tampa becomes just a tad worse based on their cap situation tightening. Last year losing a guy like McDonaugh hurt them this year. This off season it looks like it will probably be Ross Colten gone and potentially Killorn as well. That's where having a constantly flux of young guys and picks helps.

They are putting themselves in a big hole long term. They still have a team who can compete for a cup, but they are looking worse.

I am curious to see what they do.

For sure and I don't disagree. Anything around 2M or just south of it for around 3 years is fine with me and even a bargain for Jeannot. As for Ross Co there are a lot better trade offers than anything Pittsburgh can throw at us and we're not entirely interested in draft picks with a still competitive team built around the current core. I'm anticipating maybe even a short term deal for Colton until the cap increases significantly but even if he signs for 3M it's a great deal for us.

Interesting times ahead for sure.

You're low on Zucker and Jarry - but that may be covered by the massive overpay on Soucy. Unfortunately Carter and Rust block that trade - and COL and TBL say no

No chance the Avs take Granny for Newhook - if you want to be rid of the contract, the 3rd will have to do and you'll have to retain

Arizona isn’t giving up picks or young players for oldtimers.
