Détails additionnels:
Doesn’t fit Fitzy’s prototypical “long, mobile” dman, but have seen his name a lot as a cap causality. Devils have plenty of offensive dmen, but there few guys with 1-year remaining that fit perfectly or will fully replace Severson’s minutes.

Here is Bruins beat reporter Fluto Shinzawa earlier this week:

“Matt Grzelcyk

One of the Bruins’ most significant trade assets because of his high-end shot-suppression game, crisp puck movement, power-play experience and $3,687,500 AAV … Trading the Charlestown native would not make the 2023-24 Bruins better, but perhaps Zboril could supply part of Grzelcyk’s contributions … Would best serve a team that is otherwise big on the blue line … Was a healthy scratch for Game 1 against the Panthers, partly because of the team’s concerns of how his size is exploited in the playoffs.”

(He also listed Taylor Hall, Derek Forbort and Mike Reilly as most likely to move to relieve cap)

NJD will innovate with the new 3F 1D penalty kill.

If he would take it, he’d probably be a good addition. If you look at all the guys Fitzgerald sought last year, the one common feature was playoff experience. Marino has never missed playoffs. Haula has only missed once. Palat has made his name in playoffs. I figured ROR (and Grz) would be a continuation of that trend.

Think that would push us out. There are other options out there that could fill in for a year. We’d probably be more interested at a discount.

Yup. Lots of options out there and only really a minor need, explore all options, and if we can get a good deal on we'll take it.

Also NHL would be way more fun if cap hits were structured like NFL/MLB where you can backload/frontload them to control the cap hits through the years.

Then no deal. Bruins don't need to move Grzelcyk out for pennies on the dollar.

Gonna have to move some people out and you won't be getting market prices with that lack of leverage

They have lots of options. They could move Hall for pennies on the dollar, they could move DeBrusk for pennies on the dollar, they could move Ullmark for pennies on the dollar.

A significant portion of the league is up against the cap. Bruins are not in a unique situation. To keep the team together they really only need to move out Forbort and buyout Reilly. It's not complicated. No need to overthink other teams' moves when you have little idea what the concerns are.

Exactly. Contenders will not be jumping to take on cap. Prices go down. Also doing those 2 moves gives them 10 spots to fill with 10 mill, needing to sign swayman and find 2-3 top 9 forwards,

I think they should move Ullmark for the right price. The playoffs showed they need to pick one goalie. But they don't have to trade anyone at a discount price to fill a roster.

It's your favourite team. Presumably when you claim they "only have to move reilly and forbort" you should already know what that team looks like

Those are the only moves they need to do. Whatever they decide to do is on Sweeney.
