Why would we give up a first round pick for a bottom-six player? Not saying Dube isn't good, but it's incredibly inefficient to spend assets to acquire a player of his calibre. We can EASILY develop a player to be as good, or even better than him.

He had 45pts playing bottom 6 mins. And he’s only 24 and on a cheap deal. That’s a late 1st for a young cost affordable player that could maybe become a 60pt player next year

Yeah, I know. But why would the Leafs do it? A late first round pick in the 2023 draft is not a normal late first round pick, no matter what you think. Also, Dube's "cheap deal" is only for one more season. If he really panned out to be as good as you say, then he'll command a large pay raise the following summer. The Leafs (and no organization for that matter) should ever be giving up a 1st round pick for a bottom-six player who might turn into a 50-60 point winger. I'm not saying he's not worth that, but developing players like that internally just isn't difficult enough to warrant spending valuable assets to acquire them.
