I was wondering a similar thing with Tkachuk. According to his page GMBT signed him, so they couldn't go, "nah we are keeping him. You keep your guys"

Well that's probably one of the the fastest way for a GM to get blackballed and in the case of Treliving, he probably would have gotten sued by Tkachuk. I wouldn't be surprised if the contract would have been deemed void since it would have been signed under a false pretense.
