Islanders aren’t trading more than a second to dump bailey, and they aren’t taking a bad contract back to do so. No disrespect intended, but Labanc ****ing sucks.

Love these types of trades for the Sharks. Islanders probably don't want Labanc. Maybe the Penguins could be interested in a swap for Granlund with them adding a pick?

Dunno if a 4th for Reilly makes it worth it.

I envisioned the trade as a 2nd to dump Bailey and a 2nd for Labanc w/ 50% retention, so not paying more than a 2nd to dump Bailey. Labanc has his issues and can be polarizing, but has a lot of upside at less than 2.5 million. He showed that when he got 56 points at 23 years old. Not really going to do anything else other than get points, but getting a forward that should be able to hit 40+ points for only 2.4 million seems like good value.

did Labanc to Islanders because of the NY connection and could replace Bailey on the RW with a higher upside Labanc. Granlund could be a good addition to get picks, but has 2 years left and Pittsburgh might just buy him out.

I honestly don't think Reilly's contract is that bad and I kinda wanted SJ to get him off waivers earlier this season. Hopefully could give him a boost on the 2nd pair w/ pp time and maybe flip him at the deadline, especially if we retained. Keeping him next year could be an option, although we do have a lot of mediocre LD.

Labanc has zero value, and he’s not gonna hit 40 points. Maybe he will have value around the deadline, but I wouldn’t be interested in him.

Don't be such an absolutist. Of course Labanc has value under $3M. Here's his offensive performance this season: https://imgur.com/a/DAAc9Wa

Maybe he has value, but not at a second. I legit said he could have value at the deadline. And maybe he gets a decent return at the deadline, but the isles should be aiming higher than Labanc lol.

He was on pace for close to 40 points this year if he played 82 games and he was on the 4th line and/or benched for long periods in a game. Maybe the Islanders don't want him but he definitely has value, especially with half retention.

My recent comment clarified that I meant he isn’t worth a second and that he didn’t make sense for NY. But might I suggest there’s a reason he is being benched by his second or third straight coach.

he makes mistakes on defense and could maybe give more effort at times, which is why he's been benched multiple times. I recognize that, but you can't ignore his offensive upside for that cheap of an aav.

Right, but what I’m saying is you r misjudging his current value. I think maybe this gets you a second and a fourth rn, so you are probably better off making two separate deals in this case.

Mrazek costed the Leafs 13 spots with 2 years on his deal

Murray with 1 year left costs the same if not less spots

many Toronto posts have very similar trades. This frees up space that Toronto desperately needs.

We dont desperatly need lul. People dont realize rn Leafs have over 14mill in cap. Murray just increases it to almost 20 mill. U factor in moving one of the core 4 thats additional cap space.

So as I said above if Murray is moved its a similar trade to Mrazek (13 spots or less) or another not great deal Bailey, Labanc, etc.. Would not surprise me if Chicago calls again as they in no rush to compete and will probs offer their 2nd or Ottawas which equates to around 13 spots

after Samsonov you'll have around 10 million for 6 guys, which isn't much at all. If you're talking about having to move one of the core 4 to make space that seems pretty desperate.
If another team offers a better deal then yeah, obviously take that, but I think a lot of these teams could pick up a different cap dump for more value than a 13 spot difference.
