Think that offer for Hart is worse than the other one you made in your other team. Don’t want to touch Hoffman at all lol

Hoffman is a much easier cap dump to take than Armia - better player, less term, easier to flip at the deadline. Upgrade in picks from a fifth to a third and a much better upgraded young player from Biondi to a top 4 22 year old LD in Harris

I know you are trying to make a fair deal and I totally appreciate that. I just don’t see much of a difference between 1 cap dump to another. A 5th to a 3rd isn’t really a great difference and the Flyers are beyond stacked with LHD players and prospects. I just don’t see anything that excites the Flyers in this other than a late 1st still

What would be your counter-offer? For curiosity and discussion sake

Armia/Hoff, Kidney, Mesar, 1st, 2nd?

I would want 1st, Kidney, Mesar. If you include a cap dump maybe a 2nd or maybe that’s too much and a 3rd would be more appropriate. Not sure exactly if you add in a cap dump but for the Habs those 3 pieces would be the main package for me

Makes sense. I don't know a lot about hart but if he is as good as I think he is then I'd do that deal

I really do think people underestimate how good Hart is. Obviously the Flyers have sucked for basically his entire tenure with the team other than 2019 season which COVID destroyed for them and NHLers haven’t really gone to any international tournaments so nobody has been able to see him play for Canada if he actually made the team. I just think the numbers he puts up behind a literally terrible and pathetic D-core year after year is impressive. Not many goalies would put up above league average numbers on the Flyers idc what goalie it is. The only year his numbers were poor was the COVID year when he admitted that he had a really bad mental state because he basically just went home and wasn’t able to see or talk to anyone and just basically studied his game film on a team with some of the worst defense and effort I have ever seen in professional sports I mean the team quit in front of him every night and then he had to just go home and suffer alone basically.

I will take your word for it. @caufield just posted an interesting trade for Hart today that consisted of the Florida 1st, Xhekaj, Mesar and primeau which is an interesting offer albeit probably missing a piece like Kidney or a 2nd

thanks for the good conversation my man

Yeah except someone in that thread just told me that was a massive overpay for Hart lol, can’t please everyone I guess. Always appreciate your conversation you keep it civil even if we are far apart on valuations and I try to do the same lol.

Personally, I'm not touching Goodrow's contract unless a nicely wrapped Lafreniere comes with it, as a free gift.

really the main thing thats off the table in that offer is Xhekaj, as he lets other habs players play more freely just by him being on the ice, Struble and Kidney instead of Xhekaj and Primeau, on 2nd thought, an offer i would make is something along the lines of Florida 1st, Kidney, avs 2nd in 24, Struble and Primeau. but that package you asked is also more than what PLD will prob get.

Philly has all the leverage with hart though. Hart isn't open about wanting out and is controlled by the team for longer than Dubois is. Winnipeg has no leverage over Dubois, hart really has no leverage over philly

Iirc Hart did say he didnt want to be in a rebuild, but yes Flyers can just wait for an offer that meets their demands, but as we know, Hart is struggling, though its just the team in front of him thats just bad at defense, their best dman this year was York, he was a rookie lmao Hart wont want to wait another 4-5 years to get in playoffs. Habs are def a good fit though. I'd make an offer that wouldnt be too much but also not enough, teams gotta mid like 45/55 cuz Flyers have the leverage in this.

Why would we fill our cap for old players in the middle of a rebuild? KG gonna cost at least 5 mil off his ELC

That is fair for sure and even tho I like Xhekaj, it isn’t a deal breaker if he is off the table. I also agree with Stephane that PLD has all of the leverage to force out while Hart has never publicly stated anything over than that he loves the organization and signed a deal that would allow him to be an RFA again at the end of it basically giving up any leverage he had.

Partly agree and partly disagree. Hart has never said anything about them rebuilding as far as I know and I like to think I’m as in the know as they come with the flyers lol. So I don’t think he has ever mentioned not wanting to go through a rebuild. Hart was struggling in 2020 but hasn’t struggled since, he’s been one of the only bright spots on what is otherwise a horrible team lol. You just said it, our best defenseman is an offensive defenseman who is a rookie that was playing on his off side lol that should tell you all you need to know about our D-core

Well, considering we got a 1st from CGY to take on ONE year of Monahan, expand that to 4 years of Goodrow's. Not saying NYR should/would do that, but that's what I'm asking to take on Goodrow for that long of a time.

Monahan was making about $4M more than he should have been. Goodrow doesn’t even have $4M annual salary. Not to mention the fact that he can actually provide you a net positive on the ice.

It's still four years of a player that we don't need. Plus, the trade also include a $1.5m retention on Allen...factor that in, it's like paying Goodrow $5.1m for the first two years. All that for a 4th and a 6th ? No thank you.

Value is a bit off, picks might need to upgrade to a second to make up for Goodrow's term
