There will be teams offering their 2023 1st round picks for Hellebuyck rather easily. Hellebuyck isn't winning no cup with NJ this year. So the Devils would be crazy to move Vanecek for one year of Hellebuyck.

Vanecek has one extra year and is nowhere near as good. Devils would be trying to lock up the man instantly too, and he probably would given they’re a playoff team

And Hellebuyck wants to be the highest paid Goalie in the league, Think Bobrovsky money 8 x $10,000,000 and even with Hellebuyck they still aren't cup contenders just yet.

I mean NJ was great this year, and were largely let down by poor goaltending when they were losing games. A proper elite goaltender makes a big difference.

Devils decline Hellebuyck trade. When the price drops, we'd be interested. But the idea would be for a new goalie to replace Blackwood, not Vanecek. This leaves us with Schmid and Daws for 2024-25...and would probably have to go out and acquire another goalie next year. And if Hellebuyck wants a cap-buster of a contract, there is zero chance we extend him.
