Description
If I am trading Marner my two ideal players I get in return are Kocnecy and Laughton. Save 3 mil in salary and you get a top 6 guy with grit that this team has been missing and then you get one of the best 3rd line centres in the league who always plays a playoff brand of hockey. This opens the door to signing 2 big free agents on forward and D. I chose Killorn and Orlov as I love their games and they know how to win. Other guys that can be considered would be Bertuzzi and Severson. Love Haula on the third line as well brings speed and veteran presence. This roster to me is a fantastic playoff roster and if they could pull something off like this I would be ecstatic. I don't see a hole in the lineup. They got the grit in the top 6 mixed with the skill. They got the veteran players who know how to win, they add another big name d men. I love everything about it. My only question would be about the PHI/TOR trade, I cant really decide on the value, i think Marner would be considered A+, Konecny would be A,A- and Laughton would be a B+. Add in a first and swap 2nd I think Robertson who would be a B prospect with potential I think the trade us pretty fair. Thoughts?

Flyers could easily take this deal and flip Marner for more. He’s worth more than that package by himself

Then why don’t the Leafs just flip him somewhere and then trade for TK with the assets they acquired? Why do the Flyers have to do the extra work if you want TK?

I didn’t say they couldn’t do that. You were the one saying that the Flyers would decline the offer, all I was saying was that it would benefit them to actually take the offer and run with it if it came across their table

All of the Leafs teams trying to trade Marner/AM34/Nylander to the Flyers is just flawed cause they all expect the Flyers to just flip them. I don’t get it like why are the Flyers the ones doing the work for the deal Toronto wants to make?

Thread title: “blow it all up, get rid of everyone!!!”
The actual trade: no major pieces going anywhere except marner to PHI for the 13th time today despite the entire fan base saying ‘please find somewhere else for marner’

Trading a 100 point selke candidate is blowing it up. Thats a big splash. Secondly, I don't look at other trades on here I just think those 2 players are perfect complimentary pieces to a playoff team, which PHI wont be for a while, so why wouldn't they take advantage of their value and add a top 15 player like Marner and use him as your main piece to build around with your other young guys like Farabee, Frost, York etc. You also get a prospect with very good potential and if he works out he fits right into your teams timeline. You get another pick in this years draft, you keep your firsts and if Marner doesnt't want to resign you flip him for equal if not more value then Laughton and Konecny its a no brainer for me if I am PHI. Its a win win for two teams in different positions.
