I wasn't sure on Keller's value tbh, thought 5th and 29th would be interesting since they also have 6th.

The one LA fan who commented on my other thread was open to the idea of this swap

I mean Keller is really fkg good so his value alone is at least at what Debrincat got which was #7, #37 and a future 3rd. Now you add the fact that Keller is already locked up at a really good AAV for 5 more years which drives the price up more. Also, if you want the sens pick on top of Keller, you will need to add alot more

Ok that's fair, perhaps we take the Sens pick out and add a prospect like Struble or Tuch, someone with 2nd round value. Thanks for the feedback

Changed it to be the Habs 1st + Flames 1st + Tuch, struble or similar prospect. Thought changing the Cats pick to the Flames would give more value too.

Oh I just shut him up by pointing out he is the only Jets fan complaining about the deal and of the 5 who commented on my other thread the only suggestion (other than his whining about an unprotected 1st) was to swap the Avs pick for the Habs 37th pick this year, which I did.

Thanks, I thought you might like that deal. We have had numerous discussions on PLD and almost always seem to find common ground

Yeah the the thing is I'd see if there is something the jets could add potentially to get the florida pick as the difference between the 29th/31st pick to 37th isn't that much in terms of value but I understand that it may be in play for other deals of just drafting. At that point in the draft the difference in value of what tier the prospects are and so close that sure 29th is a better pick it's about the same as 37th. But that might just be me wanting to get the best possible deal while still having that common ground

Nothing wrong with wanting the best possible deal, it's what I am trying to do from the Habs side too lol. My thinking is what is the max we can give up without totally decimating our future lol

That's true I just like the sound of having potentially 3 firsts (assuming helle traded to Buffalo for 13 upl and ostlund). With how deep the draft is 37th is still a good pick with many players in the 2015 draft in the rounds past the 1st making solid impacts. I doubt there's anything I can come up with where it makes sense. What do you think has more value though 37th pick in 2023 draft or the 2025 1st from Calgary that could be 2024? I get that the first is a higher overall but is it the same quality of player? Sure if Calgary goes through some type of struggles that pick could be a great pick to have. The 37th pick in this draft has to amount to a better pick in a different draft no? Just another idea and the Habs keep all 3 top 37 picks this draft and still have their own 1st for 2024 and 2025.

I think if the Habs are adding a 1st, no matter what draft it is in, then Barron would likely come off the table. The idea here is that Barron is the equivalent of a 1st round pick (he was drafted in the 1st round after all and has shown his NHL readiness this year)

Fair enough. I was just thinking that pick 37th this year is probably a later 20s pick in the next 2 drafts. I understand that a first takes him out and that would be no good for the jets if they want him. Also the advantage is with the 37th compared to that 2025 first is when the impact is seen as it could be years difference between a 37th in 2023 to say pick 24 in 2025 so it could be beneficial depending on when a team wants to have the player ready as both likely take 3 years plus based on where they are drafted. I know this may seem unorthodox but if barron got swapped with Mailloux since the jets are at the London games would that open up the possibility of the Calgary pick? Keeping barron and all the 2023 picks where you can replace Mailloux with say price (lol btw) could be intriguing.

Edit: I didn't know price was lhd imagine I said bonk, brzustewicz, Allen, dragicevic, willander. Just imagine a first round of Smith at 5 dragicevic at 29 and hrabal at 37.

I like Mailloux's style more than Barron's (issue off the ice aside obviously) and I fully expect him to be cleared to play in the NHL at some point this coming season. That being said, I can see management seeing the value in keeping Barron and this year's picks and adding the Flames pick instead.

Yeah like I feel like barron is someone that even though may not be as good as Mailloux if they both peak it pays it safe with a guy that has played nhl minutes and seemed to progress well. It may suck to give up the Calgary 1st but it's not like we know where it is yet. Mailloux does have the off ice concerns but if the difference is barron and 2023 second and Mailloux and risk with the 2025 first it's an interesting conundrum of what you value as barron and 37th is a safe play but Mailloux and 2025 first leave more upside. That's why I think it's probably right around even in value. Also helps the jets with the loss of gawanke in the ahl so he may get some pp time and opportunity with the moose. Maybe it's not a deal for every jets fan but I could definitely sign up for Calgary 2025 first, Mailloux, Kidney and either Hoffman or Dvorak for Dubois and we can toss in vesalainen even tho he probably doesn't have any value to the Habs either. With how good this draft is I can see the argument to give up the Calgary pick and Mailloux over a 37th this draft and likely a young nhl ready rhd
