Eh, I really don't like the Term on Krug and well I would rather just sign Graves with the Granlund buy out money

Krug has been the worst defenseman on StL for the last 3 years. He is signed for 6.5MM for the next 4 years and will be 37 when the contract is over.

Krug was only bad last year. The year before he was a plus 23 and had 43 points in 64 games. Granted him and Faulk as a pairing were heavily sheltered.

He was banged up a lot of last year early on. If the Blues had a young LHD or at least a friendly cap hit one that could play the heavy minutes Parayko is assigned to Krug wouldn’t be as big of an issue. He’s still productive, but needs to play 3rd pair 5v5 or heavily sheltered with big power play minutes to be best utilized

No reason for Carolina to do this. Brown may not even make the lineup. Why move down for him?

So it seems to me he is good at controlling play and is a positive to scoring but is a total liability in the defensive zone. That could be valuable but not at 32 years old with 5 years left on 6.5MM a year.

Last sentence is pretty spot on. If you can shelter him on the 3rd 5v5 he can be a weapon. We unfortunately don’t have thebLD group or cap to do it

I would agree but 6.5MM for a sheltered 3rd pairing guy is bad. No one will trade for that.

Yep, gonna have to be some retention or a contract coming back that’s a less useful player but shorter term/still pretty rough.
