we need a top 6 winger not multiple 4th liners like Leivo and Chiasson to supplement the middle 6, Mcleod is not signing for 850k coming off of a career year he will be getting 1.2-1.5 million for 2-3 years

like the yamo trade but probobly won't be to Chicago (to many young players) maybe the Sharks, The Ceci trade is kind of pointless as the point of moving out Ceci will be for cap space and your trading for an extra 1.25M to our provincial rival not happening

being realistic you will probably get two 2nds and a mid tier prospect maybe you can squeeze a first out a team but for the oilers you ain't getting Holloway

The logic in signing those guys is to hope you find a Daniel Sprong type depth piece and if they suck you can call up Holloway and Bourgault.

Tanev is a far better partner for Nurse so the extra cap hit is well worth it. Calgary is not looking to rebuild but needs some cap help. They trade from a position of strength, get a guy they can play on the bottom pair for a few years longer than they'd have Tanev and get some future on top. If it takes another 2nd so be it. Tanev also stays in Western Canada so more likely to waive.

Tanev is for sure worth two seconds. Holloway's stock has fallen a bit since being drafted and is probably worth a 2nd at this point. I don't ever expect him to be a top 6 player either and think he could develop into a solid third liner in a few years who can pitch in on special teams.

Wasn't a crazy request to have him included in the deal and it would take something you don't necessarily want to lose to make the deal work.

Ceci is also not exactly worth his contract at the moment so that deal doesn't entice me at all.
