Let's see, Two years of 11m, 100 point Marner. for two years of 9.5m 80 point Benn......and Dallas has to add two young regulars...one who might be star soon and a first. Could be the most one sided trade posted for a while.
Bertuzzi certainly isn't worth that contract.

Not one-sided at all:

1. Jamie Benn is a cap dump with a fluke season of 80 points. Look at his past 5 years when he was younger lol. Trade won't work without him going the other way
2. Ty Dellandrea didn't even get 30 points in the season but I like him as a player. He will be a good career third liner
3. Wyatt Johnston only had 40 points. Since Dallas is in a win now, they need an established player in Marner

If teams want Marner, expect them to pay up. 2 years left for someone that puts up 100 point seasons and can turn your franchise around in a second. You may not agree but EVERY team in the NHL will be calling

Marners don't grow on trees, that's why he is worth this much

Your logic usually befuddles me. If Marner "can turn your franchise around in a second".....shouldn't the Leafs keep him? Gee, I see what Dallas is doing this year, certainly doesn't look like they have to turn their franchise around.

Wyatt Johnston is a rookie. He just turned 20 years old. He's playing on a bargain ELC and he'll likely score 60 points next season. Eventually he'll be an 80 point C. Stars aren't trading him. They don't need 11 mil AAV Marner. Especially when he'll just walk as a UFA in 2 years.

Your argument is pure strawman.

regardless of the exact value of the trade, surely you have to recognize that “this team that has consistently being outperforming the Leafs in playoffs and is currently in the WCF needs a boost. so they should swap players with the team that has made it past the 1st round a single time since 2004. the well-performing playoff team trying to become more like the underperforming playoff team will certainly make the well-performing team even better” is a bit silly. Marner is a guy that gets you to playoffs, and no further. playoff contender teams aren’t gonna tear up any of their core for him

I agree with a lot that you are saying here,although I'm sure Marner could help many teams regardless of his playoff woes but like you said Dallas is doing just fine with their current core.

The only reason for them to consider making a trade for Marner is if they miss the playoffs next year and he's available.

Come again? Where is there any indication that he will be an 80 point player? Why won’t he be another 40 point player or a 30 point player? Leafs are taking a big risk and is still losing this trade. Marner leaving? No that only happens in markets like Detroit

Nope wrong. The Marners don’t grow on trees, I guarantee you every team will be calling in on the Leafs on Marner

The guy you replied to thought they were getting Matthew Knies or Minten in a Bertuzzi deal 🤭
