This is interesting. I like the idea of newhook and Colorado would be a fit in terms of a trade partner for Jake. I like boeser but I really don’t want anything to do with myers. I just can’t get behind Jarry/desmith again. It’s been proven not to work

Think if we make Guentzel available, Colorado would be at the top of the list now. Just makes the most sense.

Myers in this case is for 1 year, $6m on that contract and we get Rathbone (a young left shot dman) and a 4th to pay for Myers dump. It’s a year. It’s on the second/third pairing, it’s a low risk high reward type move, I could see Myers fitting particularly well in PIT and maybe even earning himself a short extension when that time comes next season.

As for Jarry/DeSmith yea they could probably use a shakeup, hence why I now just signed Andersen and traded DeSmith to make up for that extra cap $

Avs are not paying a roster player, one of their best prospects (not that that says a whole lot) plus a 1st for an expiring winger. They can look to sign wings that can score in UFA using Landy's money. Or if they're trading, Taylor Hall should be available for less than this and he has two years left. Guentzel is a nice player but the Avs can't afford to part with premium assets for rentals.

Bs fans are floating a 2nd tier prospect and a 3rd in 2024 for taylor hall. Guentzel is obviously better, but not THAT much better. And I really don't think the avs aren't moving newhook this year

I don’t think Canucks ownership would retain $2M on Boes.
But as a fan, I would make this deal.

Idk about that. I’d take newhook and a 1st for Jake tbh that seems fair and the more you look at it a 1yr rental makes sense for Colorado. Landeskog out for the year. Nichushkins future uncertain beyond mackinnon and rantanen where do the goals come from? After next season you add back landys cap hit AND mackinnons doubles in value

Has it? Penguins are 10th in save % over the last 3 years. It's not like they're bad. What are the better options?

Doesn't COL have 12 players signed with only 13mil in cap space?

*for an expiring, goal scoring, playoff performing, point per game winger* if you’re going to disagree with the move that’s fine but there is nothing wrong with the price. That’s about the price it’s gonna cost you for Guentzel…

Sure u can go sign Hall or you can trade for a much better and younger player in Guentzel. If anything it benefits COL more being that Guentzel expires after this coming season, whereas Hall has 2 years and if it ends up not working out COL is in a predicament. Might I add that Hall is coming up on 32 so there is a considerably more amount of risk added to that.

Guentzel is gonna cost ya more but is the better move and will be well worth the price you’d pay. Hall is coming off a down season and is only getting higher into the 30’s and has the same cap hit as Guentzel. Pick your poison

There are better backup options on the market than DeSmith. Korpisalo, Hill, Andersen (more playoff exp.) and etc.

There are better backup options I agree - but those also come with a premium cost.

Not really, we have the cap space to do it and all of those options should cost between $3-4m and we don’t have to give up any assets

We have the cap space now for sure - who knows what it'll look like once they start signing players though. I guess it depends on the way you look at it. I'd rather the extra 2mil goes to a better skater than a minor upgrade at backup goalie. I'm not against upgrading or getting a better backup - just as long as other things are addressed first is basically what I'm trying to say

100%. No questions he's better. Also plays next to sid, so better but possibly inflated scoring but still yes, much better.

Avs need depth forwards (centers, in particular) badly and newhook is a good depth forward with team control and a lot of potential. Not impossible that he's traded, but depth forwards and a lack of 2C were the issues these playoffs (and season, tbh), and Guentzel doesn't solve that

Fair? Hahaha. No, they would be stupid to accept that.

Boeser, despite having a bad year, still played on a 0.74 PPG pace. He is mad talented, and you can try and pretend otherwise to make his value lower for joke trades like this, but it's not going to fly. Rathbone is still a solid prospect, though his value has fallen. Those two players alone are getting at least a 2nd and a 3rd. Myers has one year left, and after his bonus is paid, is only owed 1 mil in real money. Canucks would keep rather keep him, then pay some stupid price for 1 year of cap relief.

Awful trade. Maybe next time do some research and you could come to that conclusion yourself. Pens fans really are a special breed.

What the hell are ya talking about kiddo, first of all as skilled as Boeser is, maybe if you knew anything about hockey or were an actual fan of your own damn team then you’d understand that Boeser is a cap casualty this off-season and the Canucks aren’t gonna get back nearly what your small minded brain thinks….

Second of all, “pay some stupid price” are you dumb? You are paying a 4th rounder and Jack Rathbone to dump TYLER MYERS on a $6m contract for one more year, just listen to yourself…. That’s a generous offer if anything…. You’re clearing $10m in cap and getting a second and third to do it. Maybe if you actually knew 2 cents about hockey and you got ur head outta ur ass you’d understand that this is in fact, a very fair trade and one both teams would likely accept.

Good example of a sane Canucks fan above @DERELIICTE_CAMPAIGN, unlike you, who agreed with the trade and would take the deal as you should.

Me go do some research???? hahahahaha matter of fact this was the funniest thing I’ve read on here all day, courtesy to you.

Avs decline. They can't afford to re-sign Guentzel so it's a 1 yr rental just like all the Marner, Nylander et al trades on here. They trade Newhook and they have one centre signed. So they've given up a cheaper, younger player in the position they most need to add to before giving him up. Newhook isn't likely traded unless a 2C has either already been acquired or is what he is being traded for. Doesn't matter how good Guentzel is.
