I am under the impression the Lightning value near NHL ready players more than picks. Maybe a pick balances out the deal, but I doubt it will be just draft picks. It is going to be a very interesting summer with the Lightning again. They are truly masters of the salary cap.

I see. Bahl took a big step in his development this year. I think the Devils believe Bahl is apart of the future, especially after dealing Okhotiuk to the Sharks in the Meier deal. Now looking back, kind of wish we still had Okhotiuk because Tampa would’ve liked him for his snarl and physically for the third pair. I guess we will have to wait until he hits UFA in 24.

I wouldn’t be opposed to the Devils taking up Philippe Myers contract as a potential 3RHD/depth defenseman and get Tampa out of that deal, if that lessens any return for Colton, but very unlikely. The Lightning need to make an early decision on Colton. He’s a really solid candidate to get offer sheeted. They need to get the most they can get in a return or extend him.

Agree totally with your assessment of Bahl and Okhotiuk. There have been numerous trades proposed on here from Tampa fans to acquire Okhotiuk from the Sharks. A cost controlled 3LD is Tampa's biggest need so that's probably the ask at the top of the list in any Colton trade. I'm guessing there will be multiple teams in on Colton if it comes down to a trade, so Tampa will get a solid return. I'm sure GM JBB is making every effort to extend him sooner rather than later.
