Description
Let me dance with the Devil. I just wanted to see Bratt’s price. No way will this trade ever amount to anything. That is all, plus Washington could use some youth. It’s not like Ovi is getting any older

No thanks from Washington. We’re very happy to draft at 8.

No idea why WSH would make a move like this. If anyone Chicago to get a winger for Bedard

I don’t think Chicago moves any picks and trades for a top winger at the draft. I think they’re going to still do the slow rebuild. If anything, they’ll use their extra draft picks to trade up in the draft. Retooling teams are going to be more interested in top 6 wingers, one of them being the Caps.

I could see that, Washington hasn’t been a team to move first round picks. I just think teams in the ballpark like Washington, who need to retool are in the market for a top 6 winger. Your core is getting older and unless you’re fully committed to rebuilding, the No. 8 pick isn’t going to make the impact on the roster for a few years.

Also fwiw, I really don’t think your team is back in the conversation unless you add another star.

I agree, it’s just interest to speculate. I also think it’d be more than just No.8 OVR. That’s probably the starting point.

If you look at similar trade comps like Debrincat and Meier, the true trade value of Bratt is a 1st + 1 year rental of Tom Wilson (if Bratt is extended immediately in the trade)

I wouldn’t be opposed to a 1st and Wilson for Bratt

If they had to move Bratt, I think the comp would be Fiala’s trade. Similar age, production, dip in playoffs. Mid-teens pick plus 50-100 prospect.

That’s possible. That’s why I only included the #8 pick. It’d be similar to the Fiala comp. Move up in draft and lose the prospect

Also it’s important to note that Minnesota was cap crunched and didn’t have as much leverage in any deal. I think trading Bratt, there would be slightly more leverage given his QO and he’s a year younger

If the Capitals trade a Top 10 Pick AND Tom Wilson they will be getting a hell of a lot better player than Jesper Bratt.

Gotta be honest this is one of the poorest valuations I’ve ever seen on this site.
