I think the 1st round bust is overplayed. I see him as a top 6 player with potential to continue growing. Team control definitely factors in the value here. I also don't think the Jets can afford to take both Scheifele and Dubois into next season. Removing Scheifele and Wheeler from the room allows for a new culture.

I agree with everything you're saying, but you're trade is a bad valuation of Scheifele. He's a centreman that's had consistently good point production throughout his career - you'd get more for him. Different story if Laf was a centre. Chytil is a better target if you're looking at NYR and WPG shouldn't be adding if there's retention involved.

Hawks might consider this but still don't think a 2nd is enough.
