It’s a possible scenario I would like, but I think you way overvalued Tanev due to his age and injury-prone nature

Mostly just undervaluing mittelstadt. I like Tanev, but he's not a permanent solution for that spot. I cant see Kevyn Adams moving any assets for a 1 year player unless it's a throw away (like a 6th or their 12th best prospect cause there's no room).

I understand the value of Tanev, but wow, just wow on that Buffalo trade. Mittlestadt just came off his best year, and is still young. Tanev is 33 and a 1 year rental. No matter how good you think Mittlestadt is, he just had a very good finish to the season; he might regress or he might improve. You don't just give that away for a 1 year rental, unless you have a cup window open and the player coming back is better than Tanev. Then, to top it off, you have picks going to Calgary? Wrong way on those picks there...

Vladar for a 3rd is optimistic. I've argued this before. Backup goalies who have gotten traded for a 3rd or better are almost all better than Vladar. A lot of the deals that were done were with salary retention or cap reasons. Yes, he is cheap, as all backups generally should be, but a sub .900 save % is not good, no matter how bad the team was in front of the guy.

We already established Vladar is worth the equivalent of a 2nd Round Pick and that the best Trade comparables are Vanecek, Nedeljkovic, Georgiev & Adin Hill

Most of whom’s rights were Traded, so had no contract and therefore no retention.

Vladar does have a contract and it’s very affordable for a 1B/Future Starter

Vladar’s value has onlg increased since we acquired him for a 3rd and if you’re going solely off his Sv%, that’s a very naive and short-sighted way of evaluating a Goaltender. What about his GAA and Record!?

Vladar is worth a 2nd, so DET would need to add a Sweetener to that 3rd or Top it up somehow

I don’t like Mittlestadt as a Target, since we already have Dube. Best would be to Trade Tanev to TOR for either a 1st + Timmins or Lafferty OR a couple 2nds and both Timmins and Lafferty and try to get Coronato’s Harvard Teammate Abruzzese at the same time, although he’d likely be most useful/helpful if Coronato & he both started next season on the Wranglers

Only BUF forward targets of interest to me are Peyton Krebs and Victor Olofsson 50% retained

Otherwise I’m on board to move Old Man Tanev before he falls apart and/or we can’t get anything if value in return for him

Holy moly, how do you come up with these values? Tanev is not worth that. A 1st for a 33 year old rental of a good but not elite player? Defensively, sure probably. But non point producing D just get lower value. Doesn't matter if they are elite at creating scoring opportunities. Jake Walman will be like that next season.

Simple, I look at and compare them to other recent Trades

What do you think Tanev is worth!? He was named an All-Star and nominated for the Norris just last season. He’s still one of the Best Shut Down Defensemen in the NHL

Who cares he’s 33. Giordano’s still killing it at 38-39 and he’ll be 40 come October here…

The bigger issue is his health, but after a long break this summer, I’m confident he will be good to go for Training Camp

Just a question: So when was Tanev an All-Star and in the Norris voting exactly? I certainly do NOT recall it being recently if it happened at all.

He got a fifth place vote once from a Calgary homer no doubt. I don't ever recall him being an all star.

Check it out on Hockey Reference. Go to the Right Side under “Awards”. It was just last season when he helped Kylington have the breakout year he did:
