Nylander gets just 9mil and Matthews just gets 12.5mil? If ROR is still a 2C he probably gets more than 4mil for 1 yr. Robertson is a 3rd line LW all of a sudden and gets just 950k? Kampf gets just 1.75? And even with those underpayments you're still over the cap?

You really think the team that cant do it now, gets better with Roy and Skjei? Timmins and Liljegren arent even seeing much of the ice now but the team is better with them in the top 6? The top 4 arent playing physical or defense now and will be a year older (Tavares mainly), you actually think theyll be better in 2 yrs?

If all this team needed was tweaks or luck, then this team would have won a couple of rounds by now. At some point, you have to admit that the problem is with the core and it's not during the regular season. They become a different team in the playoffs. They have no compete or pushback. The problem is between the ears. That's why they can't win in the playoffs. The best teams are never out of a game or a series. If they lose a game they are going to send you to the dressing room limping from the last hit and win the next game.
This team is flawed and we need to accept that. Losing is never okay. If they players want to stay together they need to win. They haven't been able to do that

Robertson has had injury problems so I don't know what his contract will look like. I see the Leafs signing O'Reilly to a three year deal 4 mill per season (this is the following season roster). I think Liljgren and Timmins should be regulars in the top 6 in 2 years. Roy and Skeji are great top 4 dmen, I'd say a big improvement over Brodie , Gio whose getting old, and McCabe. I don't see Kampf getting north of 2 million, great defensive player, but almost no offensive game. Matt Knies and Minten could be great offensive players in a couple of years which should help with Tavares declining, not to mention O'Reilly contributions on offensive as well as the big three should be enough. Also Niemela looks like a great prospect, maybe he takes that job from Timmins on the bottom pair.

Lol this is what I'm talking about in my commentary. You don't blow up an elite regular season team, you keep the core together and make the right adjustments to make them an elite playoff team.

the truth is always hard. Keep puttting hit on the ice and expecting something different. we gone so long without winning we can continue regular season will be fun to watch. This guy is done watching.
